Running xp programs on linux

Hi, I am a linux noob. I am running Ubuntu 6.10 on the AMD 64bit thing. All I want to do is be able to run steam, xfire, cod2, ventrilo, and sony acid 6.0 on ubuntu. Can anyone help?

well for one thing, think about where you posted this. hardware problem? i think not. steam can be run via wine with some tweaks. ventrilo will also run in wine.

Why would you wonna switch to Linux from Windows? I know a lot of people don't like windows but if you are a Linux noob, then it is going to be a long hard dark road for ya.
