OCZ ram

hey guys i was looking into changing the ram in my new rig which i am buying soon to some ocz ram(changing from geil), just wanted to know if ocz are any good at all. anyway any advice would be muchly appreciated. thanks

OCZ is a good brand with some decent brand, sometimes tends to be a little bit overpriced, but worth it.

Look for G.Skill....best price/performance there is pretty much.


I can't really recommend anything buy G.Skill unless theres a really good deal on something. OCZ does make good ram, overpriced but still good. This is why I say if you can find G.Skill go with it.

DDR or DDR2?

I got 2GB DDR2-800 from A-Data. this RAM is pretty cheap, but it's quite good for overclocking. I got it to DDR2-1000 stably, at 2.4V

That's not bad actually for cheaper DDR2-800 ram like A-DATA.

I still prefer my G.Skill since for 180 bucks I can hit DDR2-1130 on dual channel with 2.15v. Still 500mhz is pretty much all you'll need on a C2D unless your a serious overclocker.

I think my RAM may be able to go higher, but I haven't tried lowering my CPU multiplier to see what the RAM can do.

As stated OCZ is not bad ram, just a bit overpriced.
