I got these 2 programs installed on my system: LiveReg (Symantec Corporation) and LiveUpdate (Symantec Corporation. Together they take up about 9.16 MB. I have a Dell 4300S running off XP and I was wondering whether I need these programs or whether I can remove them. I don't have Nortan Antivirus Running and I don't think I ever did, but if I did I think these might be the remains of it. I'm not sure though. Currently I'm running Avast, btw. So if someone could let me know whether I need these programs or not it would be alot of help. Thanks.

If you aint using it (NAV) you don't need em.
Live Update ....updates the virus file sigs (as they increase daily).
Live Reg.....checks your NAV expiry date (no more sigs when expired) and updates the NAV software 'machine' (not the virus sigs). Live Reg is required to run Live Update.
