Is it the Power Supply???

My friend has been having alot of problems with his computer lately and I want to help him get it fixed because it is frustrating him alot. His computer is completly turning off after about 15 min of being on, almost as if the power plug was pulled from his computer. I am thinking that the issue is his power supply and I want to just replace it. But we are completly sure if that is the issue. What other kinds of things can cause this type of behavior from the computer? What kinds of things can we do to test if the other possiblilites?

Short in the power cord, bad PSU, overheating or a problem with hardware causing shutdown.

ya your right, it could be alot of things. I will just have him mail it to his warranty place. Was just trying to figure out a way for him to do it without losing his computer for months. thanks guys
