Hard Drive Problems...

I have a 160 gb hard drive. It is in an external hard drive case, and when i plug in the case, the hard drive begins to spin. After a few seconds the hard drive clicks and turns off. it wont restart after the shut down. you have to unplug the drive and replug it. It was working fine, and all of a sudden its doing this. It has 50 gb of music thats very important. Any ideas? Thanks....

Is the hard drive a SATA or PATA hd. ?
you might be able to connect it to the ribbon cable (PATA) or the SATA data cable. If pata connect in the secondary IDE, TEMP disconnect all else on the channel and check hd jumpers. UNPLUG YOUR PC FIRST. I am talking take the hd out of the enclosure.
