avast and ZoneAlarm

i've been hearing that avast and ZoneAlarm aren't really the best match....is this true?

if so, what firewall would be good with avast? (preferably free)

i know about comodo, but does it scan inbound and outbound HTTP traffic while on the net like ZoneAlarm?
