how to buy a laptop

toshiba quosimo is the most incredible laptop ever lol that will be upto date for a good couple of years. what will you be using it for??? ive got a 3 year old acer laptop and sure its only got 40gb and 1.4ghz cpu but its still light and has a 15" screen i cant play any modern game without it lagging on lowest settings though apart from warcraft froen throne lol which isnt new.

Toshiba and Lenovo would be your best bet for notebooks atm. Dell are still okay as well. $2000 laptops in 3 years is expected to tell you the truth.

well I am expecting the laptop to run vista flawlessly.
So most likely 1-2 gb of ram.
At least a HD 80gb or larger.
A decent CPU.
A 256 mb graphics card to handle aero.

I want my vista to run as smooth as XP did on my desktop.

My friend told me I should wait until there are laptops that come out w/ directX 10 cards to fully take advantage of vista.

is this a good idea?

and also, 2000 will last me 3 years?
how much will 1200 last me?

you'll be glad you went big, though what my brother ended up doing, which worked out pretty well, was to 8.9" screen which fit nice and lightly into his satchel for travel, and he hooked it up to his 20 inch crt when he was at home

well i want it to be portable but not too small.

I don't get why they don't make 14.1s anymore. It was the perfect size.

It would fit perfectly in the schoolbag and the screen wasn't too small or big.
