Hello, can someone explain computer cooling to me.

I am in the process of getting some new pc parts for a new build. Check out my other thread in the forum right below this one if you want a list of specs.

Anyway, I know I need fan cooling...but I don't know how much, and how fany fans of what type I should have. I was planning on spending $20 for a pair of 120mm fans. Is that enough?

The system I intend to build is only an $850 budget system but I plan to be overclocking to a mediocre degree perhaps when playing games or using video editing software. Which won't be all the time.

Right now, Im planning on getting these items:

Is that ok? Is that enough? How loud will it be? Do i only need one 120mm fan and and a couple 80mm fans? Why do people go for 2 80mm fans instead of 1-2 120mm fans?

Thanks for any help.

The amount of airflow that those + the PSU fan will provide will be more than sufficient.

You will find that 120mm fans are considerably less noisy than most 80mm fans. This is because they don't have to spin as fast to move the same amount of air.

To answer your other questions, I have gone with several 80mm fans because that is what my case is built with. There is no means (other than adapters, I suppose) to install 120mm fans.

Welcome to TF, by the way:D
