CPU Comparison

Im looking to build a decent rig, but trying to skimp were I can. Can any give me advice on which CPU is the best buy.

E6600 with 4mb L2 Cache or.....
E6400 with 2mb L2 Cache

Im curious if the gains from having more cache will off set the cost of paying $100.00 more.

E6400.

You can simply overclock it to 6600 Speeds and much more.

We could probably help you other places as well. List all Components and your total budget..

Yes I plan on buying aftermarket cooler to overclock but does the extra cache make a major difference or minor difference.

You won't Notice it, So no, its not worth the 100$, especially if your on a relatively tight budget.

Whats your total budget and other parts?

As for the Heatsink: Any of the following + Artic Silver 5 and a 120 MM Fan

I don't know exact parts atm but I plan on this

MOBO- MSI 965
Ram- 2 GB ( probably Kingston i have had good experience with them)
Case - one I currently have
PSU- Antec 900
Video- 7900 Gs ( looking to see if I can find a DX10 for around 150-200) when they are released
CPU- Probably the E6400
Cooler- Zalman heatsink and fan


I am only going off memory of what I was looking at on newegg, and I don't memorize everything but this is the basics of what I plan on getting

I would get G.Skill RAM over kingston as kingston makes excellent value ram but there's not much for an overclocker on a budget. I would get this instead. Ask anyone and they will tell you that G.Skill makes quality RAM for overclockers, for everyone really.
