??new to Oc`ing??

hi i am new to over clocking and i have a few q`s:
1: I have a intel p4 2.4 ghz but my pc runs slow when searching ect. is it cuz of my motherboard?
2: oc`ing does it overclock the cpu or mother board?
3: how much more cooling do u need?
4: how much reliabilty is lost when you have OC?
5: where is the best place to get step by step instructions for OC?

Psydesign, More than likely when searching it is more your hard drive than you cpu. Overclocking overclocks the cpu and if you dont have a lock it will also(somtimes) overclock you agp and ide. And for cooling it all depends how much you wnt to overclock! But knowing for myself once you start you cant stop. The very least you want 3 case fans one blowing air in one sucking air out and one on the side. And of course a descent heatsink and fan. Here is a good read on overclocking
