Sli Question?

Yeah, 20% is too low a number, or we're just not understanding what dknight meant. The figures usually come around 60%-80% for a SLI system versus the single card. Considering the price is always 100% higher (duh), it's obvious SLI is not worth it.

But as King X13 said, the original poster already said he didn't want SLI. He just asked if it was a good idea to get SLI parts anyway.

How can you say there is only a 20% increase when nVidia boasts about an "80% performance gain over a single-card graphics solution"?

80% is not correct, no matter who says it. under perfect circumstances you would be lucky to gain 50%.

Yeah, sorry. I wasn't trying to make waves or start an argument. I was just paraphrasing from memory what I had seen in the benchmarks...which doesn't matter anyways as the OP was not intending to SLI.
