Splash screen only?

Usually I do not turn my computer off, but one night I shut my computer down completely, and then the next day, I could not start my computer up at all. It would come to the splash screen only (the one that shows the model of your motherboard or whatever).

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe your hard drive died? Do you have an extra hd that you can swap out for it to see if that's the issue? Or have you tried booting from CD?
