k well ive gone into bios and looked around theres something that says cpu frequency, is that the htt i should be raising?the bios is very confusing i cant really find the htt or fsb but i think ive got the voltage

ive put the cpu frequency from auto to 201 and restarted nothing really happened...so i set back to defaults

you should maybe read a little more before jumping right into it... there is much more to having a successful and STABLE overclock than simply raising the frequency.
but, yes...the cpu frequency or external clock speed is what you want to raise.
dont mess with the voltage till you have some idea what you're doing. if you must raise it, i wouldn't go more than 1.45 on that stock cooler (i think yours is 1.375 stock?). i can overclock my 4200 to 2.72ish on 1.40, so you should get about the same results, with the temps remaining ok.
although, i guess you can do it that way and see how far you can go.
there aint no way you will get it to 2.8 or 3.0 without doing some research and pretty heavy duty adjustments.
like pepsiboy said...it is very rare to see any x2 cpu above 3.0ghz. which means that its hard to do.
