airports and computer hardware/accessories

So my parents are thinking about planning a trip, to where the destination we would fly a plane to, I've heard many horror stories about laptops/things with LCD screens and the security scanners they have there. the following is a list of the electronic devices i'd be carrying

1 laptop
iPod
cell phone

which of these can/SHOULD NOT be scanned at the airport for risk of damage to any electrical part.
