I might have XP as a dual boot option
But i use XP pro and Linux on my Notebook. (so i might not need dual boot, since i can use the Notebook for XP stuff)

I will be running Vista Ultimate on the new sistem (already got my copy)

I understand alot of things arent supported by vista, but with in time !!!

I just got a 24" Wide monitor for the new system.

Please your opinions are appreciated.
Yes Yes, I know this is $$$.

Thanks

honestly you could save alot of money
that build is an overkill
instead get something practical like:
e660
p5b deluxe
gskill 2gb ddr2 800

Very understandable.

But I want a computer that will keep me going for a couple years.

I built my Current PC about 3 years ago, and I am tired of it.

2.6P4 HT 800fsb
1gb Kingston
80gig SATA (Seagate)
Asus P4P800 deluxe
ATI 9800 pro 128

I am not set on these parts, but definitely open to suggestions.
nothing wrong with saving a couple bucks

I still have alot of researching to do

I reccomend the Corsair 620 Watt Power supply.
It will last a Long time and its awesome on the quality Scale.
Sound card : Audigy 2 ZS or X-fi
DVD Drives- Any Samsung, plextor or Optorite.
Case - Antec 900 (Im thinking or some big silverstone or lilian)
For the heatsink: The Scythe Ninja is a better choice

I still got alot of reading up to do on Power supplys, ill take a look at that Corsair. my current power supply came with the case. its a 600W Antec. What watt P/S should i look at getting 600+?

I have the ZS on my current system, and i liked it, so ill read on up the X-Fi, and compare it to what i currently have.

i have all samsung drives in my current pc too.
So i was happy with that

Case, i have had great luck with my current Antec.
it's an Aliean looking case. the next one i think i want sleak looking. (simple clean)

Ill take a look at the Ninja, i was also checking the Thermaltake CL-P0370

If you already have the Antec PSU, reuse it. If you already have the sound card, reuse it. Your already have the Optical... See where Im going with this.
Reuse old Parts like Optical drives and sound cards. Unless they are broken or way way way old (Talking 3+ Years) Reuse Power supplies Unless Broken, not enough wattage or Bad Brand. None of which is the case with the Antec you have now.

If your wanting to spend that kind of money on a cpu you should get a quad core intel. You can get the qx6600 for $849. And Their suppose to drop down to ~$500 around April or something.

But I would just get a E6600 or lower.

I would get another 72000 RPM hard drive on top of that Raptor just for mass storage.

I thought 500gb was a lot of storage
I bought mine WD My Book 500gb for storage, but now after couple months I've filled up 150gb already (on who know wut.)

The only problem with that is that i plan on still using the old pc.

Ill put that like in my quest room, then the new PC will go in the Office. So i will not be reusing the old parts.

It will be a full build other then Monitor

How will i be at a better advantage with a Quad over the Due Extreme? I will have to do some research on the whole Core thing. To see if i would benifit.

But that E6600 does look good for about 300.00 i bet i can OC it to about 3.0GHz. (not sure if OC will be take place)
