Apparently the 8800 GTS 300MB will come out on the 12th Feb. Would a dx10 card run smoothly on xp like a DX9 card or does it convert to DX9 through software?

Also which would you consider better a Nvidia 7950 GT or an ATI X1950XT?

The x1950xt.

My 8800gts runs great on my xp professional. Im playing supreme commander demo on high settings with no lag either . Can't wait for the retail so i can test it out on bigger maps.

No the 7950GT and the x1950xt dont compare! the 7950GT is higher spec.

Only thing you can compare it to is something like the 7900GT, which is slightly slower than the x1950xt but not the 7950GT 512MB

What are you talking about..have even you seen benchmarks on the 7950 and 1950 yet?

7950gt and x1900*** benchmark

The entire x1900 series (save for the gt which was only .4 fps away from tying) takes the cake.

edit: are you talking about the x1950pro?

edit edit: nvm i found it...becnhmark . The 7950gt beats the x1950xt. I was thinking about the xtx..sry.

Of course the 8800gts beats them all . Benchy

But i imagine the 320mb version would be just slightly better then the x1950xtx or ties it.

ummm....I just realized, that actually wasn't a x1950xt on that benchmark either, just another x1900xt 256mb version. I can't seem to find the x1950xt on any anandtech benchmarks??? Weird. All i see is x1950xtx and x1950pro. There are x1950xt's but anandtech don't seem to recognize them. But i imagine the 7950gt still beats it with more memory (but prob not by much).

Actually, the X1950xt slightly outperforms 7950GT, and it is on par with 7900GTO.
