Still any reason to pursue dual-proc mobos?

I'm getting ready to put a new system together. I spend about half my time doing 3D graphics, and the other half gaming.

I'm leaning towards a Core 2 Duo E6600, but am also wondering if I should consider a dual proc motherboard. Isn't a Core 2 Duo already essentially a multi processor? Would there be any benefit in a dual proc board at this point?

I guess my real question would be is there an advantage of multiple processors over a single dual proc?

No, only if you get the right one. Then you can stick two quad cores and have 8 cores.

Yeah. Cores = processors. Dual core = dual processor. The reason they are called dual core instead of dual processor is that they only use one socket.

A dual core processor is like having two processors that use one socket.
