First PC build

A friend of mine recommended this forum...so here goes.

This will be my first PC build and I will be using this machine for gaming and AutoCaD. And i plan on a $1000-$1200 budget.

Here are my ideas for products so far.

Mobo:

DFI INFINITY 975X LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard - $154.99

CPU:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - $187.00
or
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - $222.00

I do plan to OC.

So thats all i have right now as a starting point. I would love to have some input for all the other products i need to buy to complete this system -- Ram, Power supply, case, Vid card...etc.

Welcome to Tech-Forums

If you plan to overclock, go tiwh the E6300, much better for overclocking.

As for Video Card, with something in that budget, defenitely go for an 8800GTS.

Cool, i did check out that vid, it comes in about $350- $400. I think i can fit that in the budget. Thanks.

Does anyone have suggestions for a Power Supply, i understand it is important to have the right amps. Also some good ram for OC.

fortron 450 watt should do you just fine and with the e6300 get a gigabyte ds3 they work great together when your overclocking
