My dad's computer was in a reboot loop. Did a repair install of XP, fixed that problem. Now his internet can't communicate with the modem. He has dial-up of course. Device manager says the modem is fine and when I go into the properties of the modem it has a modem test button. Click it and it has several lines of gibberish and a few of them say "successful", I know modems are cheap, but this has me stumped. I even reinstalled the internet stuff from the CD. No luck. It says I must have a modem to look up access numbers and tries to connect via TCP/IP. Any suggestions other than drop-kicking the old thing and getting a new one?
