We are a small company that is just starting up. I have been left in charge of getting the computer equipment and I am trying to understand Microsoft's licensing options.

We are looking to buy 4 workstations running windows vista and 1 server running windows server 2003. We would like the server to host applications (ms office, adobe acrobat, ect..) to the 4 workstations using terminal services. There may be up to 10 people/workstations soon.

What licenses would we need to do this?

This will be for you. It is for small businesses. It allows you to purchase Volume Licenses. So basically anything from like 5 licenses and up.

As for the server you are better off just ordering a Dell with Server 2003 equipped on it. From there you can set it up to work with Vista on the other machines you buy.

The small business license is open enough that you can buy a few licenses now and get some more later if needed.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I think that will get me started in the right direction.
