If you don't want to sli with another 7600gt, then go for the 7950gt or 7950gt X 2.

If I was in your situation, had that same setup and money was an issue, id get another 7600gt and get another 1GB of ram. 1GB alone isn't enough for modern games. And another 7600gt can be had for less than $100 right now...

2 sli'ed 7600gt's outperform hands down one 7900gt.....but i doubt a single 7950gt..

I think my only concern is the money. I originally wanted to run SLi with the 7600, that's why i waited for the price to drop. Now that i can afford another, i can either wait say another couple paychecks for a 7900 but, what your saying is that an SLi setup would be a cheaper means of outperforming a one card upgrade situation.

In question of the extra gig of ram, i've been on the forums before and although i have an older chip, i can use another corsair XMS brand with higher timings. So, that would be an added amount to my overall expenses, roughly 200 - 300

So buy a 7600gt for a hundred bucks and save up for more ram. That makes the most sense if budget is a concern. Like I said 2 7600gts outperfom one 7900gt so it would be unwise to buy a single 7900gt.

No it wouldn't...

The 7900GT performs equally well or better on all games... I'd rather have one card with good game performance than two with good game performance and a lot of heat generation. Considering the topic starter would sell his current video card, it would be a very wise upgrade.

Ok fine....i'm sure there are many different benchmarks, with different versions of these cards...

Im just saying as I said before get either one 7600gt (cause he already has one )

OR,

Go for a 7950gt NOT a 7900gt...

They are coming down in price every day!

$214:

or the 512mb version:

He can probably sell his 7600gt for maybe $40, cause a new one is $89.

The choice is yours objecterror.

Personally, I'd get another 7600 and put the rest towards more ram. Unless your graphics right now are really that bad.

believe you me, if i had the money for the 8800, then i would be playing something like oh i don't know, real life?

seriously, my 7600 does a very good job at rendering and allowing most of my games the max settings. from what iam taking from this thread is that one, i need more ram. -nod nod-
