64 bit operating system

How will programs run on the 64 bit operating system... should it be able to run most programs? And what about things like Direct x or java, can somebody give me an idea on how vista 64 bit will operate these programs?

Only very few proggies work with 64 bit, and some run VERY slow.

Where did you get this ridiculous information?
I run x64 with NO problems, and have only run into a couple of programs that aren't compatible.
I love my 64 bit, and EVERY program installed "hauls ***"!

What programs are you having problems with then... I would like to know so that I know what I'm getting myself into.

I used to use x64, very quickly switched back to 32 bit i found many many games that didnt support 64bit but that may soon change in the future, as of now 32 is the best

I'm buying vista friday, but right now I run a tri-boot system. xp64 (mostly video editing), media center (normal chores), and xp sp1 (ringtones and adobe audition 1.5 for making stereo music to DTS 5.1).

my point is you should run it, but if have problem with anything go to the regular version
