Hello my parents want a new computer. They like to check their mail and surf the internet. They also like to play games on Pogo.com and stuff like that. They are willing to pay $500 for their computer.

Currently they have something like:

P4 1.2
DDR400 32MB ram...yes i said 32MB...
20 or 40GB HDD
15"CRT

They have a keyboard and mouse so thats np they do how ever want a 19" and I showed them some monitors and they want a Widescreen. Heres what I have come up with..Please help my tweak and construct this build so they can get the most out of their $500. They dont plan on overclocking or anything.
Case(with 350w PSU) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811147019 - Dad wants a black case so...this was cheap.

Motherboard(Onboard video and sound) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131049 - has onboard video and sound it should power the monitor i would think.

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819103531 -

Memory(512MB) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145479 - 512MB should be enough right?

WD 250GB HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822144701 - 250GB is WAY too much but they price doesnt change too much from 40GB to 250GB.

CD/DVD Rom - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827106028 - they dont burn so this should be fine

19" Widescreen - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824254005 - They Reall loved this monitor and my cousin has it so seems good.

Total $512.20

looks good dude. My first computer was like 233mhz with turbo button on and 16mb ram 50mb hard drive or something not even sure if it had one lol.

It's weird how the kids now have a better computer than their parents. My parents computer isn't that bad, but it does have very crappy onboard video.

The video chipset on this motherboard is much more powerful and ready for gaming/graphics over the ATI:

Why are you getting a retail AMD processor? All you need is the chip, right? You can get an Athlon 4000 for the same price OEM.

Go with one 1GB stick of memory for future upgrading.

This ViewSonic monitor is a better name, and costs less. It's the same size, $30 less.

i dont think you guys are looking at my links...one guy said his monitor was cheaper then mine when its 20 dollars MORE and the other guy offered the SAME monitor as the one I already suggested = \.

As for the CPU I cant just get the chip b/c it doesnt come with a stock fan.

The one you have is

mine is:

mine's $5 cheaper =P

EDIT: Oh, and if you look closely, mine also has the speakers at the bottom.

-$5 + Speakers > +$5 + No Speakers, in my opinion.
