Recently my Hard drive failed so I'm having it replaced. I didn't have a backup of the files and didn't get a chance to recover Windows from it.

I have the WinXP installation disc, and my question to you is: Will I be able to use this same disc to install Windows on the new HD? (I did this RMA w/ Newegg and they said ask microsoft... but there's no way of getting into their product support page w/out a PID...which can only be found with windows installed)...

Thanks

there should be a sticker with the product key located on your machine somewhere...

I built my system and yeah I stuck the sticker on my case...

I'm asking if I can use the same serial on the new HD. Can I?

edit: I"ll try the serial with MS... if anyone knows the answer in the meantime, let me know.

Since you havent changed your mobo or CPU you should have no issue with using the new HDD. If you have to call just tell them you had a HDD failure and they should re-activate it for you with no problem.
