HELP With Bios!!

well i built my pc yesterday and idk how to format my hd, also I went to the bios setup and set boot first from CDROM, I put my os disk in... and it says failed then askes me how I would like to start windows(which I cant do because I have no os) please help... thank you...

when booting from the windows XP disc it will say "press any key to boot from CD". make sure you strike a key.

yea but it doesnt say that, it says press DELETE for setup or F11 for bootup menu,,, and when I dont press anything it goes to the screen that asks me how I want to start windows... what do I do?!??!
