That is why you need to install it! If you attempt to RMA it after the drop yhou will have to lie. If it operates and fails during the warrenty period you have a plausible argument that it was not damaged. It will work!
Edit: I once dropped a new AMD 939 pin 3500+ from my desktop on a hardwood floor and, then like a dummy, kicked it across the floor like a hockey puck. 16 bent pins. Staightened the pins, put in the CPU and it works to this date 2 years later!!!
