Hello all, can anyone recommend a really good program to format and delete all data on a HDD before you do an OS install?

I didn't think the OS full format really wiped everything? I read somewhere that with recovery tools you can still pull stuff off it, or will that just apply to any formatting regardless of OS?

Unless you completly obliterate the drive Data is still recoverable no matter what software u use reformat.

That's not true... a low level format will remove any data.

No matter what software you use data is always recoverable. It is possible (Using highly specialised software) to recover off any formatted harddrive. There is one way to do it, though its not very economical. Play a little baseball with your harddrive.

True, but when I said software I ment all those that do high level format.

Besides how many people do you know that low level format their harddrive. ;)

that true, but it reality, most people don't have tools to recover data from a that has a new os on it, that was low level formatted before that
