Hello, I am going to be building a new computer over the next month or so. My question is how big of a power supply am I going to need and what brand(s) would you recommend.

Here are my potential specs (at the most...may be less):

Processor: Quad-Core EE or maybe Duo Core EE
Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI Edition
RAM: 2 GB of something or other (probably Corsair)
Sound: X-Fi
Monitor: 19 inch (for now) flat panel
Graphics Card(s): 8800GTX (maybe 2)
HDDs: (1) 150GB Raptor and (1 maybe 2) 300 GB Serial ATA 3.0
DVD Burner
CDRW/DVD Player
Lights, fans, and all that hooplah...

As you can see I would really like this computer to last for the next 3 yrs or so with only minimal upgrades.

Does anyone have any recommendations on size or manufacturer?

Thanks for any help!

No need to go SLI for 8800gtx now... Stick with 1.

I say you get the 650w Trio instead. More future proof, and if you plan on running SLI in the future or now, it'll probably serve you well.. and if you're looking for minimal upgrades in the future... well I can only imagine how much amps/watts future GPUs will require...

dont get that ocz for the price its not worth it
like i said an antec 550watt wil be able to power that system no problem even adding another card you will be fine

Well, this guy does want minimal upgrades... so if he were to get another video card for SLI, or perhaps 3 years into the future cards require much more power, he would have to get a new PSU too..
