I have looked around a bit and this is what i came up with by myself, let me know what you think.

MOBO - ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131013

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103735

RAM - Corsair VS 2 x 1gb 240 pin DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145098

H.D. - W.D. 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144415

GPU - eVGA Geforce 7600GT 256MB PCI Express x16
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130017

PSU - Antec True Power 550W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817371002

If I decide to run 2 video cards, will that PSU do the job?

Can you explain to me why? What did I do wrong exactly? If you have better suggestions for a build that is under $1000.00 I would be glad to hear them.

First of all there is no reason to buy an AMD processor right now when you can get a core 2 duo. Get ram that runs at least 800 mhz. Get a better video card and a bigger hard drive. There are better power supplies and get a different motherboard that supports core 2 duo chips. I just noticed that you have a $1,000 limit so that might be a reason for the parts you have chosen. You can still do better than that with a $1,000 dollars.

Is it possible you can build me a computer with links? I trust going off your build more than I do mine. Besides i have never built an Intel.

Try getting a...

Gigabyte DS3
e6300
2x1gb g.skill ddr2 800
7900gs
fortron 450w
wd 250gb

then from there, see how much you are at.. and upgrade to your liking ;)
