Allright, well this is another 'making my first computer thread'. In the past my dad has boughten everything and done all the technical stuff, but its time I ventured into this on my own.. I'm building a gaming rig, that will be able to play most of the stuff out there at reasonable graphics and such... I have had my current system for like 4 years now, and it simply just isn't really cutting it anymore.. My system now is:

Dell Intel P4 2.4GHZ+ motherboard that comes with it
1 Gig of DDR Pc2700 Ram
Fx 5200 AGP

So... I've been trying to contruct a system, and here is what I have so far.. I probably won't be able to buy this system for a month or so, so please tell me if there will be any significant price drops in that I should be aware of.
I also hardly know anything about motherboards, so any reccomendations would be helpful.

What am keeping:

Speakers, Mouse, Moniter, Sound Card, Hard Drive, Modem. Operating System

New hardware:

Proccessor, RAM, Video Card, Motherboard, Cpu/GPU or Heatsink/fan?,

Price Limit: $1000 CND

Video Card: BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC PCI-E 256MB 128BIT GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTV Out SLI Ready Video Card

I plan to overclock a tad, nothing extreme as I don't have much overclocking experience... So far this is $520 Canadian without tax.. so technically i still have another $480 left to spend, but if you know of any reasonably priced RAM and MOBO combination that works well I am all ears. General compatability comments would work as well.

Thanks!

PS: I was wondering, does that Processor I am buying come with a heatsink/fan? or will I have to buy those things seperately? and will I have to buy a fan for the graphics card?

Yeah that Gigabyte is a good choice for the motherboard. 2GB Corsair/GSkill/OCZ DDR2 800 would be good for overclocking. Yes the CPU will come with a fan and heatsink, but you can buy an aftermarket one if you want. A graphics card fan isn't a necessity but again you can if you want.

you might be better off the wait untill the lower end DX10 cards come out, you'll get much better performance when it comes to DX10 games as well as current DX9 games.

Other than that everything looks fine (maybe bump your CPU up to an E6600)

Well, the system you have right now isnt bad, just the video card is lol. If you got a 7800gs, and added another gig of ram, you could play all games out right now on high settings. Then you could wait for dx10 to fully roll out, and build a new system then.
