Question about building a computer

When I build my computer am i suppost to turn the power on with only the powerpack to check that it is working. Also should i turn the powerpack on with only the mobo, ram, CPU and CPU fan. I have heard that if everything is connected correctly it will make several beebs. Thanks in advance.

what is the powerpack. Do you mean the power supply? If so you should install everything mobo, ram, cpu, videocard, soundcard, drives, moniter, speakers etc etc then turn it on put your OS CD or DVD in the optical drive and away you go

If it is working correctly, there should only be 1 beep at startup.

Connect everything first to see if it works, it not then recheck all your connections.

If you checked all your connections and see nothing wrong, but still not working... put the bare minimum of parts in and see if it works, if yes, then keep adding other parts on.
