Quick question about directX installations

I have just downloaded the latest directX off microsoft.. says it was released Dec 2006..

however they're both named DirectX 9.0c ....

i installed in nevertheless, and after that. i checked dxdiag, and saw that what i have on me is still DirectX 9c and it is still the same BUILD VERSION:

4.09.0000.0904


what gives? i tried installing it agian and same thing.

yes its still Directx 9.0c the december redist, its slightly updated but not enough to warrant it to be called 10 or 9.1 etc

alrite, so how can one tell which DX version they have exactly?

Actually I cant see any information to tell you which distribution you have although you only really need them if a game specifically asks for it so dont worry. Most games come with directx installs anyway apart from that you wont need all the incremental updates as long as you have 9.0c.
