Does it help to lap a heatsink when using AS5

I just ordered some AS5, but while im waiting here, i feel the need to lap my heatsink. Would laping it help even if im using AS5 since the AS5 will just fill in the gaps?

Lapping the heatsink is always good. There's always going to be a space between the CPU and the heatsink, lapping the heatsink just lessenes the space between the two and conducts heat better. Happy lapping!

be careful to apply equal pressure to the hs while lapping!!! if it gets lopsided, ur worse off than when u started. also start with larger grit and work your way to like 1000grit... i would recommend 5 micron polishing liquid and a paper disk for the final step... sweeeet
