well heres the story... my c drive have the ntldr boot.ini etc to boot my windows which is in d drive and the problem is i dont like having to access my c drive to overcome this problem and i know its not normal and its strange but anything to make it have boot information and windows both on d WITHOUT reinstalling windows

I also tried copying the ntldr boot.ini config.sys and all those system files but it didn't work. so plz tell me a way to fix this problem.

Insert your XP CD. Go to the recovery console. Type in
fixboot
fixmbr

See if that helps.

disconnect the c drive when you do this. I would put windows on my c drive if I were you

because that's where window will always put the default bootloader

a lot of programs will install to the C:\Program Files folder even if this partitcular windows is on another partition

I personally like putting Windows on a partition other than C. Main reason is so if i happen to get a virus but it's only stupid enough to look in C, it'll just kinda fizzle.
