Audio output to input?

Does anyone know if there's a way to set your computer's audio output as your recording input without the use of an external cable? I'm using XP pro.

What are you trying to do exactly? There may be a application that can help you along.

But to answer your question no. You can not use a output as a input. Unless you put the audio output to a reciever input.

I have an old recording that I'm trying to clean up in an audio studio but it won't import it for some reason. So if I can just set the output as my recording source I can just record it as it plays.

I don't know of a software solution for this, but I have used a line in for that. Just run a stereo line out cable from the speaker jack to the line-in jack and you're all set. I use a splitter so I can hear what's going on too. Works VERY well. You may have to hunt one down that has male connectors on both ends. Radio Shcak should have one for < $5.

I know Camastia can record sound and video right from your PC.

There are several. I think Audacity can do this as well.
