Computer is suddenly resetting itself!!! Please Help!!

Hello, lately my computer has been resetting itself all of a sudden. I will be using it one-minute, and the next the screen goes black, the computer makes a short beeping noise, and then resets itself.
When it restarts, it comes up saying that Windows has recovered from a serious error. When I look at the technical aspects of the error report, it says something about a mini dump file.

Does anyone know how I can stop my computer from resetting itself? It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it gives me no indication or chants to say what I was working on at the time.

check the temps in the BIOS could be resetting to overheating and the beep is the warning noise.

You know, that thought crossed my mind- it has been hotter than usual lately, so it could very well be overheating.

How do I check the temps in the BIOS?

Press delete to enter the BIOS and look for health monitor or something once the screen appears you should see CPU temp, Fan speed etc.

If you cant see health monitor just click around each option until you see CPU temp.

Okay, I found the part in the BIOS you were referring to. The CPU temp read as 37 degrees, which I'm guessing isn't too hot. What did give me some alarm was some of the other settings. There were things like 'CPU Temp Warning', 'FAN Fail Warning', etc. and all of these were disabled. Should I turn them on?

CPU fail warning set the temp to 60-70C
fan fail I personally leave it turned off because the alarm can sometimes go off when you turn the pc on.

still we are left with the problem of the pc resetting it self.

here are some diagnostics to run:

Prime95:

Once installed choose stress test and go to options and torture test run small FFT`s and leave it on for 3-5 hours.

3Dmark01:

run 3dmark05 if your graphics card supports it otherwise run 3dmark01. Just run the test in a loop maybe 3 or 5 times.

Memtest (this version runs in windows):

ok to run this program once downloaded put the file in the c: drive. Then open the command prompt go to start>run and type cmd. Once open type the following:

cd\ (press enter)
memtest /time 420 (press enter this will run memtest for 4 hours or 420 minutes)

There is also a version of memtest to put on floppy disk or ISO file to burn to cd which can be better as less chance of crashing as it runs on pc bootup:

Sounds like a memory issue. Run memtest86 before you go nuts with all that other stuff. How many beeps and what frequency? You can google post beeps and then, checking your bios manufacturer at post, see what the beeps are telling you.

I've started the Prime95 test already, so I'll let that finish first.

I think it just beeps once, and the PC only resets about once or twice a day so far since it started happening.

I let the Prime95 program go for 3 hours and 15 minutes. It had no errors or warnings.
