Dell Inspiron 8500 Mouse/USB Problems

Hi,
For awhile now, my Dell Inspiron 8500's usb ports haven't been working. At first, the mouse would occasionaly stop working, and if I jiggled the usb connector, it would start workin again, now nothing can connect through the usb ports. (I haven't installed any new hardware/software lately either.) Any help would be appreciated.
