new mobo, need help.

I just got a new Mobo and i got it all installed . upon the first power up, it sits at the manufacturer's logo and says "press Del to enter setup". if i press delete as soon as this comes up it says entering setup and sits there, almost frozen like. if i dont press it immediatly, and try to press it 2 seconds after it has given me this prompt, it doesnt respond at all. what could this be. i tried resetting the cmos and that didnt do anything. what else should i do?

is the mobo compatible with the hardware u put in it?
-check if everything is seated correctly
-if that doesnt work try removing all the hardware besides the cpu, video card (unless u hav a integrated then use that and remove the video card), RAM, and the Power supply
- if still nothing i'd suggest returning the mobo ASAP

thanks for the suggestions. i figured it out. i guess the mobo didnt like having any usb connetion plugged in upon start up. never experianced that before. is that common?
