??? encoding

How do I encode those ??? symbols in windows XP (which are supposed to be Chinese characters)?

I am trying to read the ??? characters in a software I just downloaded.
For instance, when I click Files >, ???? symbols comes up instead of the actual Chinese characters.

Do you have your language set to Chinese? Are you sure you have that font installed?

i'm sure you can do it but finding out how to do it is the hard part..

Yes, I have the Chinese Language Pack installed (including Traditional and Simplified). From what I recall, Simplied is QuanPin and Traditional is Phonetic.

I finally got the problem fixed.
I went to Regional and Language Options in Control Panel, and then clicked the Advanced tab, and installed Chinese Languages.
There was a prompt to place the Windows XP CD, which I did, and I located the file that was needed, and I restarted the computer.
