For a smooth gaming experience, Rockstar recommends a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP,
384 MB RAM and a 128 MB graphics card.
An Audigy2 soundblaster and a gamepad are also recommended.

I have:
Intel Celeron CPU 2.2GHz
Ram: 1Gb
Ati Radeon 9600 256Mb
200Gb disk

I don't understand why my game is not working "smoothly"..
I have all configured on minimum ..What do i have to do ?
any help or tip?

thanks for your anwser-
best regards,
lynn.

its the Celeron... I used to have a 2.6Ghz Celeron and I was using my GeForce 6600 and it was horrible to play... Very slow, i now have a AMD Atlon Xp 1800+ @ 1.8Ghz and i get 40+ FPS 4xAA 1280x1024 HIGH...

If you dont want to upgrade your mainboard and get a AMD then get a P4... Celerons are not meant for games nad they will never run games very good. also your video card isnt great but it will do.

yes, i have directX 9c installed.

where i can get the latest driver?
thanks for you anwsers guys !!

GTA tends to use alot of Graphics Power... and by default, it set's settings on Medium. Try lowering all the settings in it (which you already have) but be sure to have it as the following:
  • Draw Distance: 0
  • Resolution: 640x480
  • Anti-Aliasing: Off/None
  • Graphic Settings: Low
  • Make sure theres nothing running in the background you don't need
  • If your running the MultiPlayer mod on the Vista OS (MTA or SAMP) they will lag your game to 2fps no matter what your hardware is
  • ...make sure cheats and other things are not over whelming it
But I'm running a GeForce 7600GT ($150 now a-days)... and is able to run it on max settings @2048x1536... otherwise, not having alot of ram available will be the games #1 source of lag.
