Boring i know,but can any one help?

My computer has over the past few months run alot slower, the main thing is when browsing pages (internet or in windows) they stutter when scrolling down. Ive tried using various spyware but no luck, is it something to do with my hardware?

I have

Windows Xp Professional
AMD Athlon Processor
995MHz
256 RAM
Hercules 3D Prophet 4000XT TV Out

Would this have anything to do with my computer running slowly? do you think i should upgrade the RAM or the 995MHz

Any help really appreciated

More ram could always help. When was the last time you defraged your hard drive?

thank you, haven't defragged in ages, how long do you think it would take with one 115gb and one 40gb hard disk?
Also what RAM would anyone recomend and how much would that be?

It may have to be one of those overnight jobs on the larger drive...you know, run defrag, go to bed, hope it's done by morning.
