Finger Print Scanner

I was thinking of building or using an old box to use a finger print scanner. As in anybody that comes into a room has to scan themselves in. Does anyone know
1. of any good finger print scanners.
2. of what sort of specs it would need
3. what os would you reccomend
4. any software (not good at writing own software)

i do not think this is something you can just make. the hardest part would be designing the software. for you making this yourself would be impossible, but you are in luck because you can just buy this equipment....and hey it only costs 300 pounds which is about $550 american dollars?:

The one from the second link 'U.are.U 4000 Fingerprint Sensor' looks pretty slick, although it says it's for use only with their apps. I'm sure you can make use for it in other areas, iono about making it work for turning your computer on, that'd be pretty cool though.

You can get them for 100 USD buddy... Just depends on the quality you need, dpi wise..

they sell servos for like webcams so maybe he could make sumtin usin those. one of those programs that launch another.
