A e6300 with a moderate overclock beats a fx-62. It will beat a x2 4600 hands down even with no overclock. If you go over budget after shipping, a 7900gs is a good card too. Stick with evga though to leave the option of upgrading to a dx10 card later with the step up program (just remember it only last 90 days after purchase).

it is not but if you think about frame rates, as long as you stay 30fps or above in a game then you won't be able to tell the difference between 30fps and 100fps since the human eye only processes 30fps. The 7900gs can play fear, oblivion, bf2, and other current games on high settings and maintain a decent fps. But if you can afford the 7950gt then go with it. I was just suggesting it since you were worried about going over budget after shipping.

Bollocks ^ 30fps is not a steady framerate for games at all. There have been several discussions but the human eye can certainly register more than 30fps. In movies it doesn't make much difference between 30 and 100 since they use a motion blur to fade from frame to frame, so it is less noticeable.

Anyway. The 7900GS should be a pretty good card for you still, if you want to go just a little lower. I would, however, reconsider that 80GB harddrive. 80GB is nothing. You could alternatively drop some bucks on a lower wattage psu. Same brand and will serve you with stability all the same.

Here we go again, lol the argument about how many fps a person can see.

If it fits in your budget than ya get the 7950gt, or if you need to shade some bucks off you could get a 7900gs. It would still beat a 7600gs with ease.

The e6300 should also beat that x2, not a huge difference AT STOCK SPEEDS. But when overclocking is added then it is a totaly different question. The x2 might hit 2.8 stable with decent ram and such. Your could hit 3.2 easily. and your stock speed is only 1.8.

i second the lower wattage psu idea ,, 580 is a bit overkill for what you have especialy if you can use the oney for a bigger hard drive

Heres another re-edited list with everybody's suggestion. It comes out to $932.93, not including shipping. Bigger hard drive, 480W PSU, and cheaper motherboard. You also still have the 7950GT, but if you want to save more, you can go with the 7900GS, like the others said.
