blue screen of death

My dad brought a computer home from work that has the blue screen of death. I did everything to try and get rid of it put it back in the dell and the blue screen came up again. So i restarted it and now it doesn't read the hard drive and my computer that had the hard drive in when i was running the virus/spyware programs doesn't read the hard drive anymore either.

I can hear the hard drive though. In bios on my computer it says Maxtor and the model number or whatever flashes but it doesn't see it in my computer with my other hard drive when windows boots up.

what do you mean? did it die? how do i fix that? Is there a way to get the files off? The hard drive isn't making loud noises but the sound its supposed to make so i know its working but it just doesn't show up except in bios.

it crashed, there are programs that can recover stuff off of it. You should try going to your disk manager and see if it is recognized in there.

then u can use explorer to pull the files off, if u are using a usb drive, have it plugged in when u boot up.
