Upgrade my pc or overclock? I need advice

what do i have to do with my RAM in this? could i determine the timings of my ram with something like CPU-Z and tell you guys and give me some information on what to do with it? i don't really see how RAM fits in to overclocking, i just understand raising the multiplier and the FSB via the bios, and maybe the voltage if it needs it >_>

ram has ton's to do with oc'ing,If your ram's not stable nothing's going to be stable,Like i told you before just start reading up on this,If you don't understand how it work's there's no sense in you even trying!!!

because if you overclock your cpu too high you raise your ram frequency too high if you do not properly set the divider
example using say, ddr2800 (which actually is 400mhz freq):

fsb = 290x11 = 3190ghz
ddr2 800 divider (for my amd) is 6.
so, 3190/6 = 531 mhz and that probably aint gonna happen w/out mad skills.
but:
fsb = 290x11 =3190ghz
ddr2 667 divider (for my amd) is 7.
so, 3190/7 = 455 mhz totally posible with good ddr2 800.

in other words, dont mess with your ram until you have your cpu maxed and know a little more about the process, it will save you a lot of headaches.
