new sound card + current TV card = no sound

So I bought a Sound Blaster Live +MP3 sound card and installed it on my computer. I have gotten it to play music, mpegs, dvd's and such, but it plays no sound when I watch TV using my TV card.


I have an onboard soundcard, but in the sound properties I put that I want to use the Sound Blaster as my sound.

The TV card had a cable connecting to the motherboard. I am thinking it eventually goes to the onboard soundcard to provide sound. I unplugged the cable and tried to find any slots on my soundcard and none of them would fit. Also there were a few cables that came with the sound card but none of them fit anywhere on the motherboard or the TV card.

Any or all help would be greatly appreciated.

make sure you have
1. onboard sound diabled in the bios
2. your output of your tv card going to the "line-in" of your sblive card
if you have done all of that make sure that "line-in" is not muted in the sound control panel when you watch tv.
