I am trying to overclocking my E6400, but the temps recorded on Rivetuner C2D temp monitor are displaying fairly high...
At idle the temperature is 50C and under full load it's about 65C (when it's overclocked to 2.26ghz)

I am just running the normal intel hsf that comes with the cpu. However if i were to add a Zalman CNPS9700NT with some AS5, do u think that would bring the temps down significantly?
I hear people are getting their E6400's up to like 3.3ghz just with air cooling :S...

That temperature is a little high so I wouldn't push it any further. If you want to get further, get the hs/fan mentioned above or a thermalright Ultra 120.

:O 18C on stock voltage, i could only dream of that. I think there is something definetly wrong with my one then... Even with a Zalman 9700 and AS5 i would still only be lucky to idle at the high 30's

Does too much thermal paste disrupt the heat flow? Thus making it hotter?

Yes it can, you have to get it just right otherwise you CPU will get hot.

Not too much, Not too little JUST RIGHT :)
