Hello all, I have the comp in my sig and I'm very interested in watercooling. I have read lots of threads and have a pretty good Idea of the good equipment names. I want some suggestions of an external system. The TJ09 is predrilled to run tubing in and out of the case so I would like to get some kind of system that sits outside the case. I will probably get the TDX cpu block and danger den just came out with blocks for the 8800's so I'll most likely get 2 of those. Other than that, I would appreciate any suggestions you all can give. I want to really OC this system and temps are limiting me as of now. I can get to 3.6ghz stable but the cpu temps are 61/63, and I read you don't want to go above 60 so I backed off.

Also, I keep seeing everyone getting their 8800's to 650/1000. Everytime I go past 626/950, I can't get a stable 3DMark06 so I am hoping that it is temps or inability to push the CPU harder that is limiting the GPU's... Or maybe I just got some bunk cards that don't want to push harder. Also, If you have the same mobo, is their a way to get more power to the pcie slots. I thought that lack of voltage might also be limiting my ability to push the cards. I can supply temps but they seem to be what everyone else is getting so nothing abnormal.
 
Understandably you will probably want to go for full coverage gpu blocks. The ones from danger den are quite good.

Other than that, i would look at going for a 3x120mm radiator, matched with 6 of their Yate Loon Medium Speed Fans, the Laing D5 Pump, and the Silverprop GPU block.

Then grab about 8 feet of tygon 1/2 tubing, about 12 worm drive clamps, some thermal paste, and a handful of small nuts and bolts to mound the rad.
 
No, do not go full cover. They are inferior in performance to just a GPU block. Yes they look good, but you have to think about what you want.

Full cover is not necessary for 8800s, just get a Maze4 and some ramsinks. Put them on the RAM and one on the RAMDAC and you will get far better results than with a full cover. :)
 
Please explain what you mean. I should get maze4's, that i get, but what are ramsinks and where can I get them. So far, I have put this together. Please review it and let me know what I am missing. I am really new to watercooling so I want to make sure I have everything I need. I'm talking all the little clamps, nuts, bolts, etc.. Do I need fill port?

Also, can I just keep everything outside the case? I want to keep the pump, radiator, and resevior(which I'm not sure I need), outside the case. Then just run lines in for the blocks. Will that be okay? And should I get a different resevior if i'm just planning on having it outside the case? Do I have to mount the rad or can it just sit on top or beside the case? Maze4 only covers the GPU, you put ramsinks on the ram. ramsinks are heatsinks for ram, (http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcbgamerap.html). i wouldnt keep everything outside the case, it'd be better with everything on the inside. most people leave everything in except the radiator can be mounted with the right equipment off of the back of the case with a radbox. or people mount the radiator on the top of the case, inside and out. check out this gallery: http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34877 just to give you an idea. T-lines are more popular than res because res's are known to crack and leak. but the T-line is more reliable, it takes longer to bleed (the process of the bubbles leaving the loop). where you put the rad is all based on your opinion but it should go from the pump to the t-line or res to the radiator.
 
Okay, I think i'm going with what I have listed up top except I changed the tubing to tygon 1/2" and I added some zerex supercoolant.

Is there anything else I should use, like temp monitors, anything? Some more advice would be nice guys.

Edit: and do I need a fill port with this setup??
 
A fillport is the thing on top of a t-line. You use a fillport to fill up a t-line.

T-line require fillport holes to be drilled and are kind of a hassle. I stick with res's because they are easier to set up and easier to maintain. Just make sure if you use a res its the highest point in the loop. This will make it easier to bleed and fill your loop.

Maybe you need to do more reading before you order and set up. :)
 
Well, I read 3 guides, and ordered everything. I made some changes to the componants though, got some better stuff I think.
