would i be wise to buy a quad core sli motherboard now even if ur just going to put a dual core, single video card in ur machine.

If you know for sure that you will jump right on quad core then yes. Also keep in mind that there will be better QC boards out when you are ready to switch. I'd say no and just wait till you are ready again.

Well, currently the only Quad Core offering is by Intel. Also, right now, the motherboards are the same for both Dual and Quad Cores, so there isn't really much difference between them. Whichever you decide to go with, you will be able to upgrade to Quad Core. SLI is always nice to have, and SLI motherboards are also often higher-quality than non-SLI ones, so its a good idea to go with one of those, even if you may not intend on adding another card in the future. If you can afford it, and its in your budget, then I'd say go for it.
