After wanting to build my first gaming computer this is a few things I want to come up with and just wondering if everything will go together this is what I plan to get.

Yeah everything is good except for the mobo and CPU.


1. Motherboard is mATX meaning Micro ATX.

2. C2D's are the way to go.

3. Pick up an E6400 and a Gigabyte DS3, and pick out some nice DDR2 800 ram.

The processor is cheaper but far better than the one you chose. Or the e6400 like lord anthrax said.

just get the e6300 and you can oc it past the speed of the e6400. wow i just looked at the ds3 yesterday and it was only $134. hmm i will wait until its back down to that price before i buy mines.

You wont find a better overclocking board for the price. This thing can take FULL advantage of a core 2 duo's overclocking. I've seen an E6300 at 3.71ghz on this thing

This guy said he is a noob so I wouldn't expect him to be overclocking anytime soon. He doesn't even really know what to buy. Everybody suggests parts based on their overclocking ability. You need to think in terms of the buyer. He wants a pretty decent gaming build out-of-box. The parts are good parts but I'm just saying that you all base your suggestions on overclocking and not what he needs or wants. Maybe suggest a cheaper mobo thats not made for ocing and don't suggest the e6300 just because it can overclock past the e6400. Suggest it because it will run all games at decent settings.

Lol, I'm learning to appreciate AMD fanboys, they provide much-needed comic relief. As long as you guys don't seriously believe that an A64 touches a C2D, by all means, keep fanboying away.

On a more serious note; Why would you want someone to spend more money on something that performs worse? Can you please justify that for me?

Ok this is my new setup and seems pretty legit. I want to know a few more things before I start shelling out money (mulah is tight I cant get a job im too young)Well here is the questions.

1. With this setup will I be able to run quake and a bunch of other advanced games on medium high settings without much lag?
2. I still need a heatsink/cooling fan for my cpu or I think I need one. Can you all suggest one that is legit with the setup i've chosen?
3. The memory I have chosen I have read costumer review that the two sticks aren't compatible with many mobos, is mine one of them? (that would stink to but these for the 200$s and then put em in my computer and they not work lol!)
4. If I start working on this computer over time im afraid that I will have to buy new parts again because the time it will take to build it
will be a decent amount thus allowing a lot of new things to be created and I just dont want to be outgraded before I even get to use it. Should I worry about this?
